North Haven is surrounded by lakes, beaches, national parks and nature reserves. Wherever you stay in North Haven, you'll be close to nature and find plenty of things to see and do.

Water sports are top of the must-do list.  Grants Beach is popular with surfers and the southern end of the beach is protected by a breakwall that offers great a€right-hander€with a southerly swell. The beach is also patrolled during school holidays and has picnic spots and other facilities.

Fishing is very popular at any time of the year in the local waterways (A current fishing license is required). The wide range of fishing on offer is from freshwater bass in the upper reaches of the river to estuarine species such as bream, flathead and luderick in the lakes. Go kayaking or sailing on the peaceful waters of Queens Lake and keep an eye out for birdlife in Queens Lake Nature Reserve.

A good way to explore the local area is on easy drives such as to Crowdy Bay National Park with its rugged coastline, sweeping beaches, rocky headlands, sand plains, wetlands and heathlands.

Stop at historic Kylie's Hut for a picnic and short loop walk to the northern end of Crowdy Beach. Another great picnic spot is at the summit of North Brother Mountain in Dooragan National Park where you'll enjoy some of the most spectacular views on the east coast of Australia. The old-growth forests are home to a number of rare and endangered species including koalas, powerful owls, yellow-bellied gliders and spotted-tailed quolls. North Haven offers a wide choice of accommodation places to stay, restaurants, clubs and cafes where you can enjoy good food and great ocean views.
